CFO Week ~ May 13-17th Boston & Cambridge Welcomes CFO Community
CFO Leadership Council Founder & President, Jack McCullough talks about kicking off CFO Week & his recent MIT honor!
We are really excited to be hosting CFO Week in conjunction with MIT Sloan Executive Education (MITSEE) this May 13-17, 2019. CFO Week will constitute a week long series of educational and networking events to benefit the global CFO community.
From conversations with our CFOLC members and other thought leaders, I created the seven pillars of the modern CFO. The role has evolved so much from its origins as “best accountant” to “strategic thinker”, so we identified the most important qualities CFOs needed to succeed in this modern economy.
The seven pillars we identified are strategy and innovation, performance management, economics and globalization, data-based decision making, technology, disruption and change, executive presence & communications, and leadership. In identifying these diverse roles, it occurred to us that we came very close to creating the core of a modern MBA program, which inspired us to partner with MITSEE. There is a certain symmetry to this, as our very first program was held in the MIT Sloan building. I am a proud alum of MIT Sloan and humbly, I was recently awarded the Great Dome Award for my volunteer work on the MIT Sloan CFO Summit.

CFO Week kicks off with our two-day CFO Leadership Conference hosted by the CFO Leadership Council. All three of our CFO keynotes are MIT graduates, which is also something I’m extremely proud of! It’s being held May 13-14, 2019 at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront. We expect a sell out crowd of 400+ attendees. Members from all 23 of our chapters are attending!
This inaugural week continues with a three-day “CFO Accelerator” program custom-designed by MITSEE for CFO Leadership Council members and held right on the MIT campus. It will be lead by MIT faculty and other experts on May 15-17, 2019. Seats are extremely limited as the classroom is kept small (44 seats). This promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience for our members and the greater CFO community.
“MIT Sloan Executive Education is delighted to be collaborating with the CFO Leadership Council during this inaugural CFO Week in Boston. In addition to supporting the conference, we have created a unique and exclusive executive education program for members of the CFO Leadership Council community. Designed specifically for CFOs in high growth companies, the program emphasizes the connection between your growth as a leader and the growth of your business. It provides business and management insights, tools, and frameworks based on rigorous science that are relevant to both strategic and everyday challenges, and can be applied immediately to create and capture value. This will be an exceptional learning experience for participants, and the MIT Sloan faculty and staff look forward to welcoming you to the MIT campus next month!” ~ Peter Hirst, Senior Associate Dean, MIT Sloan Executive Education
